US Embassy Warns of University Attack Threats

The U.S. Embassy warns Iran-linked threats could target universities in Lebanon, urging Americans to leave immediately.

The U.S. Embassy in Beirut has issued a security alert warning that Iran and allied militias could potentially target universities in Lebanon, including institutions with American affiliations.

According to the embassy, Iran has specifically threatened American universities across the region, raising concerns over possible attacks on educational facilities. Lebanon hosts major institutions such as the American University of Beirut (AUB) and the Lebanese American University (LAU).

“The security situation in Lebanon is volatile and unpredictable,” the embassy stated, noting ongoing airstrikes, drone activity, and rocket fire across multiple areas, particularly in southern Lebanon, the Beqaa Valley, and parts of Beirut.

U.S. citizens are being strongly urged to leave the country while commercial travel options remain available. The embassy also advised against any travel to Lebanon under current conditions.

Additionally, Americans currently in high-risk areas — including southern Lebanon, border regions with Syria, refugee settlements, and Beirut’s southern suburbs (including Dahiyeh) — are advised to depart those locations immediately.

The warning reflects growing regional instability as tensions involving Iran and allied groups continue to escalate.
