IDF Probes Hezbollah Strike Claim at Sea

Israel denies Hezbollah’s claim of hitting a naval vessel, saying no ship was struck as the incident remains under investigation.

The Israel Defense Forces is investigating reports that Hezbollah may have targeted a vessel off the Lebanese coast.

Hezbollah claimed it launched a cruise missile at what it described as an Israeli Navy ship, stating that a “direct hit was confirmed” approximately 68 nautical miles offshore after prolonged tracking of the target.

The IDF has denied the claim, calling it false and stating that no Israeli naval assets were hit or threatened at any point during the incident.

According to a military source, there is a possibility that Hezbollah may have fired toward a foreign vessel, which was not struck. The incident remains under review as authorities work to determine the exact nature and target of the launch.

The situation highlights growing maritime tensions in the eastern Mediterranean, as naval activity becomes increasingly exposed to missile threats amid the broader regional conflict.
